During the recently concluded Kenya Teachers SACCO Association (KETSA) Annual Leaders Conference, M-Kanja took center stage as a symbol of innovation, unity, and digital transformation in the SACCO sector. Delivered by Mr. Justine Mwebi, the M-Kanja presentation introduced SACCO leaders to a next-generation solution aimed at modernizing member services and improving operational efficiency across Kenya’s cooperative landscape.
What is M-Kanja?
M-Kanja is a digital financial switch operated by Simplified Payment Services Limited (SPSL), a subsidiary company of Kenya Teachers SACCO Association (KETSA) which is a corporation organized and existing under the laws of Kenya with its head office located at 4th Floor, Police Sacco Building, Ngara Nairobi. It enables real-time and seamless financial transactions between SACCO members, institutions, banks, and businesses. The platform ensures that SACCOs remain competitive and relevant by simplifying fund transfers without the need for third-party intermediaries.
Why M-Kanja Matters to SACCOs
Members can now send money instantly to other SACCO members across the country—making SACCOs interoperable like never before.
Members can move funds directly from their FOSA accounts to banks and vice versa, creating flexibility and expanding financial reach.
M-Kanja lowers operating costs for SACCOs by eliminating manual reconciliations and legacy systems.
With USSD and mobile app access, M-Kanja empowers SACCO members with digital convenience right at their fingertips.
M-Kanja’s revenue-sharing model also ensures sustainability for SACCOs and value for shareholders.
As Mr. Mwebi emphasized during the conference, M-Kanja is more than a technical solution—it is a movement. By joining, SACCOs not only access better services but also play a key role in shaping Kenya’s cooperative digital economy.
Together, we can redefine the SACCO experience—enhancing inclusion, trust, and service delivery across the board.
Let’s Build the Future Together
M-Kanja is committed to collaboration, ownership, and co-creation. SACCOs are encouraged to join the platform, take part in the pilot, and contribute to this transformative journey.
